Landscape Architecture Foundation Deb Mitchell Research Grant

The LAF Research Grant in Honor of Deb Mitchell supports research projects that are relevant and impactful for the professional practice of landscape architecture.
Each year, one $25,000 grant will be awarded to support a research project that can be completed in a 12- to 18-month period. The research must generate knowledge and insights relevant to the practice of design in order to increase landscape architecture’s capacity and impact.
The Principal Investigator must be trained as a landscape architect and currently engaged in the field of landscape architecture as a researcher, educator, professional practitioner, or in some other capacity. Preference is given to research teams that represent partnerships between professional practice and academic/research institutions.

Central Texas GCD Groundwater Discovery Center Planning

Description: Central Texas Groundwater Conservation District (CTGCD or District) seeks statements of qualifications from a multidisciplinary consultant team to advance the Groundwater Discovery Center Vision Plan through two related efforts:
1) Campus Planning for Early Fundraising: Refine the long-term campus concept, evaluate site feasibility, and develop planning-level cost estimate to support early fundraising and future investment decisions.
2) Phase 1 Landscape Design: Develop a coordinated design for priority landscape and water-wise site improvements that can be implemented in the near term while remaining consistent with the long-term campus plan.

Request for Proposals: 2027 Paul Gunther Prize For Inclusive Public Space

The Architectural League of New York is honored to carry on the legacy of cultural leader, preservationist, and public realm activist Paul W. Gunther (1956–2022) through the Paul Gunther Prize for Inclusive Public Space. This $20,000 award will be given annually for ten years to support the design and research projects of individuals or teams focused on inclusive public space, with a special emphasis on New York City.
In the United States, the intensification of political polarization, the shift of public discourse from physical to digital spheres, and dwindling investments in civic architecture and urbanism are related trends eroding the vitality of the public realm. As a result, genuinely inclusive public space—here defined as space freely accessible to all, which fosters belonging among people of different ages, genders, races, religions, and abilities—is a resource at risk. This is all the more true in a densely populated city like New York, where public spaces play a pivotal role in personal, communal, and civic lives. The fields of the built environment are well positioned to address this need head-on, but dedicated investment is required.
Supported by the Gunther Fund, this annual Prize awards a grant of $20,000 to one individual or team to pursue a proposal for creating, improving, or preserving inclusive public space in New York City. Eligible public spaces include exterior sites—such as parks, plazas, and monuments—as well as interior environments, so long as they are freely open to the public. Grants may support research, design proposals, the development of policy recommendations, or some combination of these.

First organized in 1970, the Landscape Architecture Bash (LABash) is a student-led conference for landscape architecture. Held in North America by a different landscape architecture program each year, the conference brings hundreds of students and professionals together to learn, network, and help shape the future of the profession.
The conference theme is Poke Around, which aims to encourage aspiring landscape architects to be curious, slow down and to ask questions. We look forward to providing engaging and informative sessions that allow students and professionals to connect and expand their skillset.

Damascus Master Planning

Description: Damascus, a Catholic missionary movement serving more than 7,000 campers each summer, invites qualified firms to submit qualifications and a proposal for full master planning services. The engagement includes organization-wide cultural and design guidelines and site master plans for three campuses: the Ohio main campus in Centerburg, OH (including a potential West Campus for 280 to 560 additional campers per week), Damascus Great Lakes in Brighton, MI, and Damascus Summit Lake in Emmitsburg, MD. Deliverables include program and capacity planning, preferred site plans, phasing, and capital and operating analysis, with target completion six months from notice to proceed. Teams with experience in camps, retreat centers, faith-based campuses, and multi-site planning are encouraged to respond. Written questions are due November 20, 2026. Proposals are due January 8, 2027, 5:00 p.m. ET.

Illinois Irrigation Classes & Tests

This is the 16 hour class and test that is required to become an Irrigation contractor in the state of Illinois. It also qualifies as continuing education for landscape architects. The class covers all aspects of Irrigation from components, head layout, control systems, scheduling, etc. It also covers the entire Irrigation law and code and the Plumbing law and code, as it pertains to Irrigation. Class attendees have all levels of experience therefore the class will be divided based on experience and education so that everyone gets as much as possible out of their time.
January 7, 2027 - 4 hours (continuing education)
This is the continuing education class required to maintain your Illinois state registration as an Irrigation contractor it also qualifies as continuing education for landscape architect

International Aesthetic Design Competition for Students

IADC2027 invites students worldwide to submit architectural and urban design projects, concepts, and ideas.
Student Category:
Students may participate individually or in teams. Academic instructors may participate as supervisors/advisors. All types of student design projects are welcome, including academic studio projects, graduation projects, research-based design proposals, conceptual or unbuilt projects, and completed/built projects located anywhere in the world. The competition particularly seeks to explore how students develop new design prototypes and transform their ideas into distinctive aesthetic forms.
Fees, Prizes & Dates:
Registration is €25 per project for Early Registration until 28 February 2027 and €70 per project for Standard Registration from 1 to 29 March 2027. The competition opens on 15 September 2026, and the final submission deadline is 29 March 2027. Winners will be announced on 5 May 2027. The competition offers €400 for First Prize, €300 for Second Prize, and €100 for Third Prize. Thirty projects will be shortlisted or mentioned, with 15 selected from each classification. All properly registered projects will be included in the official competition book with an ISBN, which will be published on 5 June 2027 and made available on the competition website.
USTA Tennis Venue Services Grant

Description: The United States Tennis Association (USTA) offers competitive grant funding to tennis facilities that are open to the public and meet certain requirements. Funding eligibility is based on many criteria, including the scope and complexity of the project, the number of tennis courts at the facility, and in the case of Category 3 projects, the successful completion of a technical review.

Landscape Architecture Foundation Fellowship for Innovation and Leadership

The LAF Fellowship for Innovation and Leadership was established to foster transformational leadership capacity and drive positive change beyond the traditional scope of landscape architecture practice.
The $25,000 fellowship is an opportunity for landscape architecture professionals to dedicate the equivalent of 3 months’ time over the course of one year to nurture emerging ideas and to think deeply. It is designed as a time to reflect, research, explore, create, test, and develop ideas into action.
LAF selects a six-member cohort of Fellows and recent LAF Olmsted Scholars for the LAF Fellowship through a competitive application process based on a proposed project. Selected Fellows receive a $25,000 financial award and participate in three 2.5-day residencies over the course of a year, as well as monthly conference calls. Their projects must demonstrate the potential to bring about impactful change to the environment and humanity and have the capacity to grow the leadership potential of landscape architects.
